I’m a Marie Curie Fellow at the Department of Humanities, Roehampton University. I’m writing a monograph on Barbara Bodichon’s epistolary Bildung in collaboration with the Schools of Education at Roehampton University and at Goethe University (Frankfurt). I’m also Research Associate at the Institut des Textes et Manuscrits Modernes (ITEM), Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris, where I carry out a critique génétique project on Barbara Bodichon’s feminist publications and a translation of her works from English into French (Classiques Garnier). At ITEM I’m also editing a multilingual digital anthology of Bodichon’s personal correspondence.
I hold an English BA (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) and an MA in English History (University Paris IV-Sorbonne). In 2012 I completed a university-funded PhD on 19th century English feminist Barbara Bodichon at the Centre for the History of Women’s Education (University of Winchester). My doctoral thesis studied letters as informal sources of education for literate middle-class women in mid-nineteenth-century England. I carried out my archival research in several northeastern US universities (Harvard, Yale, Columbia) and libraries (Massachusetts Historical Society, New York Public Library, Library of Congress) with a grant awarded by the University Paris IV-Sorbonne.
In the past I have taught at Le Mans University, Rennes University, Toulon University, University Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle and University Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne. I have been invited by the journal Gender & History to Minnesota University to participate in a workshop on feminist historiography and by the European Educational Research Association to Ghent University to participate in the Histories of Education Summer School. I have also held visiting positions at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris) and at the Faculty of Education, Lleida University. I’m a member of the UK History of Education Society, Women’s History Network and Asociación Española de Investigación de Historia de las Mujeres. I am a member of the editorial team of the European Journal of Life Writing and in 2019 I will take over the co-editorship of History of Education Researcher.
